'Poetry Man' Phoebe Snow is Anxious to Know Her Roots

The Seventies musician Phoebe Snow is all set to take a DNA test to establish whether she is of African American descent or not. A local New Jersey paper called her as one of the New Jersey's great black musicians.
Phoebe is amused by the declaration describing her as black,as she knows that no one in her family is or was black. But she wants to make sure of her roots, so she is planning to take the DNA test. Phoebe gained fame with "poetry man", but could pursue her music career, because she had to take care of her daughter Valerie, who was born with a severely damaged brain. She devoted 31 years of her life to her daughter who died in 2007.
