Holiday Frames

Recently I have been experiencing head aches and pain in my right eye. I went to the doctor, but he said that my eye sight is perfectly fine. The reason for aches and pain can be tension in the muscle around the eyes. He has told me to do some exercises, which are very simple. I am a little disappointed. I had already selected a pair of Holiday frames for me ( the picture is on the left).
The site which sells a variety of prescription glasses, has some good frames. Though I didn't like the image on their site's banner. Its a bald old man with glasses. Instead they could have used the image of a smart and savvy business woman with glasses. But the prices are competitive and reasonable, and that' what matters. More over the site's design and interface is also user friendly. If you don't understand the terms used in the options form, you can get their meaning by clicking the help beside it. For example it is described in detail how to measure Pupillary Distance. Here is another picture of the sunshades which I liked for my husband. Its brown frame caught my eyes instantly. The frames are available in two more colors; black and burgundy.

Christmas Carol

Mmmm...smell of Christmas. I watched A Christmas carol on ITV. Wasn't impresses much. I am sure there are better Christmas movies than this. Yea.... Home Alone is one of them. Macaulay Culkin was sure a cute kid. But Home alone is not strictly a Christmas movie, right? I think Bridget Jones' Diaries is also based around Christmas. I have to check it.....later.

My husband's cousin is organizing a music concert for a charity for blind children. He asked me to suggest some company which would rent audio consoles for a day. I will be returning to India next month. I am thinking of taking either a jacket or a watch for my brother-in law. I think Luminox Navy SEAL Watch will suit his personality. He is a tall and smart guy. Sporty gear looks fabulous on him. Knight Rider: Idea Lifted From Indian Movie

When I first read the summary of Knight rider, I was reminded of the 2004 Hindi movie Taarzan: The Wonder car. Both stories have car as the main protagonist. But the similarity ends here. In Taarzan, the hero is the son of the murdered scientist, and he has little to do to avenge his father's death. In Knight Rider, the scientist is not murdered, but he escapes a dangerous attck. Knight rider is a TV movie and it has been developed into a series now.Which reminds me of another of my favorite TV series of 80s or 90s, Street Hawk. We loved this serial.

Cool Dancing Graphics

Today I saw a trackback in spam list on my other blog. Just out of curiosity I followed that link, it was some drug de-addiction site. What caught my attention was the graphics of a dancing girl. I turned the mouse over the grphics and clicked,nothing happened, only a word comments appeared.I deleted the spam and then googled for dancing graphics. And I found the dancing graphics that I was looking for. You can download the dancing graphics at commmentprops. I liked three of them and I am displaying one here. Movie Review: Kung fu Panda

Believe.....believe in yourself, believe in what you do. This is the message the movie Kung fu Panda has for you. The message is not drummed into your head, but subtly brought to your attention. Kung fu Panda is a simple movie with a simple plot, still it entertains you. I liked the movie so much that I watched it twice, back to back. Even now, while I am writing this review of Kung fu Panda, the movie is playing in another browser. Kung fu Panda tells the story of a clumsy panda Po, who works in his father's noodle restaurant and dreams of becoming a kung fu fighter. He is picked by wise Oogway to be the next dragon warrior to fight evil Tai-long. But the furious five and their master Shifu are dismayed to see fat bellied panda being crowned the savior. Shifu tries everything in his power to frighten him off the premises of the kung fu school, but ultimately he has to relent. Shifu devises innovative ways to teach kung fu to Po and he defeats the dreaded Tai-long in the end.
Jack black has done a good job as the voice of Po, the kung fu panda. Dustin Hoffman is also impressive as Shifu. Angelina Jolie is not suited as the voice of tigress. She sounds out of character here. I was surprised to see Jacki Chan's name in the cast of characters because I didn't hear his voice in the whole movie. After some digging around, I found that he has lent his voice for monkey. That's a total wastage of his huge talent. But overall, Kung fu panda is a good enjoyable movie.

My Mom's New Boyfriend

Yesterday I watched this movie My Mom's New Boyfriend, starring Meg Ryan and Antonio Banderas and Tom Hank's son Colin Hanks. It is supposed to be a comedy, but it fails to induce laughter. Meg Ryan has turned old and it shows.I liked her in the first few scenes of the movie where she is a fat and bloating women. She looks so adorable. In the rest of the movie, Meg Ryan looks like a cross between Nicole Kidman and Michelle Pfifer.
Plot: Henry is an FBI agent, who loves and look after his mother to the point of playing a role of surrogate husband. Obviously he doesn't like it when he is told by FBI boss that he has to encourage her mom's new relationship with an art thief. On top of that, he has to spy on both of them.Later it turns out that the art thief is CIA operative working on a mission ( this one I knew from start, comes from experience you know).
Performance: I don't know why Antonio Banderas hasn't learnt to speak English with proper accent after so many years in Hollywood. May be he has been typecast. He is not at his charming best in My Mom's New Boyfriend. He looks tired.Colin Hanks has done his part well as an overly protective son. Meg Ryan shouldn't open her mouth so wide when she smiles, it doesn't look nice. Why did she had to diet? She was so lovely when she was healthily lean. Now all her features have sharpened and she doesn't look like the Meg Ryan we knew from You have got mail.

Good Bye Errol ( Flynn)

A few weeks ago my mother told me over phone that many of my books have been damaged by termites. I was really upset because one of my favorite books, a biography of Errol Flynn (My Wicked Wicked Ways) was also eaten. This made me to search for ways of how to inspect for termites.I have bought some more movie related books and I don't want them to meet the same end. The article that I found has a lot of useful information on termites. There are several signs of termite presence in your house, such as holes and powdered wood, bubbles on painted wood, a hollow sound when you tap the wood. It is also important to know how termites make home in wood. Humidity is an ideal environment for termites to flourish, so be on look out for any dark and moist places in your home. Also give a thorough check to your new house if you are shifting.

Another Social Site Victim

I read in newspaper today that a thirteen year old boy in Gloucester killed himself because he was being constantly bullied on his bebo homepage. What is happening in this world? This virtual world is killing our kids. A few days ago also I heard similar news. Parents should take some blame too. If a kid has strong support system in the form of family and parents, s/he can tackle not only with such virtual threats but also real ones. I also experienced a similar though mild situation at Jatland, when one of the members made offensive comments on my post. I got angry and retaliated. Then another member PMed me and advised me to let it go. He said that these virtual forums are not our life and we should not make them such an important part of our life that they start interfering with your mental peace.

There is a new site called Pic Vi, here you can upload pictures and videos that you find interesting. Many of the uploaded videos are from the you tube. Some are really funny, like the one below. This video is a collection of funny pranks, where unassuming persons get a fright of their life when someone pops out of a cupboard or a trash bin or a kitchen sink.

Another of my favorite videos is the ad of Doritos chips. A man wants to catch the mouse in his house. He puts a small piece of Doritos in the mouse trap and puts the trap in front of the hole. Now he sits on a chair and waits for the mouse to come for the bite and get trapped. Minutes pass, and suddenly a figure jumps out squashing the wall and starts punching the other man.We find out that its a man dressed as a mouse. There is another funny beer commercial, where the customer jumps in the counter to steal a beer. But the bartender comes and the customer has to hide under the counter. Now the bartender (unaware of the fact that someone is hiding under)pushes the beer bottle in the customer's butt to open it with a jerk. A group of guys comes in and ask the bartender to open twenty bottles. Ha ha ha, imagine, the guy under the counter will be greasing his behind forever.

A forum for Football addicts

My husband is a huge soccer fan. He follows every NFL match, sometimes he arrives home early from office just to watch a football match. He has also become a member of an online forum just to be fully informed of the football picks. The forum is new and there are very few posts, but its gaining momentum. One of my husband's colleagues recommended it. As I can do little to stop him watching the game, I also join him. But seriously, I have to think of rationing the hours spent on watching football.

Sarkar Raj: Movie Review

I will give two stars to Sarkar raj. The only tolerable actors in the movie are the ones who played the roles of Somji and Chander. They played their small roles with conviction. Amitabh Bachchan seems to have taken to brooding a lot lately. Our directors also like his new found histrionics. Big B should have devoted more time in conceptualizing his character. In fact this is the weakness of the story, no character is fully developed. Aishwarya and Abhishek's relationship is not shown blossoming, actually there is not a single romantic scene nor do they profess their love for each other in the movie. So when Aishwarya vouches to fulfill the unfinished dream of Shanker( Abhishek Bachchan), it looks synthetic.
There is another problem with Aishwarya, she has put on too much of weight and doesn't look glamorous at all, despite the tailored Armani. I felt so disappointed with Sarkar Raj that I wrote my first review on another of my blogs. My husband says that I have been unfair in giving low marks to Sarkar raj, but then we don't seem to agree on many things now a days.

Star gazing and a Site for Telescopes

Now a days skies are clear, and I want to watch stars. But it is very frustrating that the sun sets past ten in summers. When the sky is clear, you can set the telescope in the attic or in the garden. I remember, our father used to tell a lot of stories about stars when we were kids. I don't have a telescope in this house. Though I am thinking of buying one.

The ever green funny man Jim Carrey has turned old.I saw his recent pictures on E! and I was shocked to see that my once favorite comedian has aged a lot. He might have got cosmetic surgery during his hiatus, as I couldn't recognize him in the pictures. Is he taking botox lessons from Nicole Kidamn? Obviously no, otherwise he would have a smooth as silk skin instead of these horrible wrinkles. Carrey you have disappointed me :(

I Want a Tattoo

I have always been fascinated by tattoos. They are in vogue for centuries. My grand mother had her friend's named tattooed on her arm. In those days children liked to get tattoo when they would go to a fair. I was thinking of getting a tattoo my self when I came across this site, its called Checkoutmy Ink. I decided to check out the tatoos, checkoutmyink.com. The site certainly has a vast repertory of tattoos. They have tattoo categories including celebrities, fantasy, tribal, Asian/Chinese, to name a few. Any body can become a member of the site, its free to join. In fact the site has been set up by a group of tattoo lovers just so that anybody can get a good tattoo design for free. The members can share their tattoos by uploading the pictures of the body part that they have got the tattoo on. The site has a forum where you can discuss every thing under the sun, and not only tattoos. I added to my knowledge of tattoos by reading and following the conversations in the hobbies section of the site. The tattoo image which I have uploaded here, belongs to a site member called mayo3. Its amazing how one can transform oneself into a marvelous piece of art.

It is really annoying, when you are in middle of something and a the phone buzzes. You take the call thinking that it might be regarding some important issue at the office.Instead, you find out that some photography institute is offering you a portfolio on discount. Now why would you want a portfolio? I have to attend many such annoying calls every day. I was thinking of a Reverse Cell Phone Lookup,so that I get an idea of who is calling me. But then I found a better option. I can add my cell phone no or land line number to No Call List, which is a free service. If you want to enlist your cell phone number then you have to call at (888)382-1222, do as instructed and you are done. You won't be getting unsolicited calls.Land line phone owners have to register at a government website ( for free) donotcall.gov, and they will tell you how you can add your number to no call list. It will take around thirty days to get the services working.

Friends are Coming

My husband's friend is coming with his new bride today. They will be staying with us for three days. I have to go shopping and get some stuff for cooking. I am planning to make Kadhai Paneer. Capsicum are in the fridge. I need to buy Paneer and tomatoes. I will be going to Sainsbury which isn't very far from the house.

Bed Bugs are a Menace

When we shifted here in January, my daughter was all right for first two weeks. Then she started showing some red allergy signs on her cheeks. I thought it might be weather change, so didn't pay much attention. But when the marks didn't disappear after some time, then I had to take it seriously. I suspected the culprit was our sofa in the living room. Its a very old sofa, may be the land lady got it from some second hand sale. I used to let my daughter sleep on the sofa, so that I could keep an eye on her while she sleep. Now I stopped doing that and within a few days, the marks had disappeared. I was right. It were the bed bugs, which had caused those marks. I found some useful information on how to kill bed bug and a photo too. This looks really painful. People aren't really aware of how bed bugs can play havoc with their health.

Nano to Hit the Market in October

The car of the masses is going to be launched commercially in October. I don't know whether its a good news or bad. If the enthusiasm shown by the public is any indication, then Indian roads are going to see an upsurge in number of vehicles. Has anybody thought of environmental issues?
When Nano was announced last year, one of my students made an interesting observation. She said that now we will have a status without spending thousands. She further explained: as Nano is cheaper than an auto rickshaw, we will be soon riding in a Nano because all autos will switch to it.

Its Gummy Bears Time Now

Now its from Bambi to Gummy. Ananya has shifted her attention from Bambi to Gummy Bears. Its a great respite for me. At least for some days I can watch the cartoons without getting bored. But I must keep looking for some other cartoons as well, she may want to watch Bambi again. Then I will have to keep her attention diverted with new cartoons, such as duck tales. Children love new things.

Aamir Khan has again stepped on the wrong foot. This time it is Shahrukh Khan.He has called Shahrukh a DOG, though indirectly.
Aamir writes in his blog that he likes the company of his dog Shahrukh, who was named so by its owner when Shahrukh Khan was shooting in that house.
Now I think this kind of jibe doesn't suit Aamir. I thought of posting a comment on Aamir's blog to register my protest on his choice of jokes. But when I logged onto his blog, I was surprised to see the overwhelming response of Shahrukh fans. They are really angry and it shows in their use of language. I like Aamir more than Shahrukh, but what' wrong is wrong. Shahrukh has responded graciously to this unwarranted post shot. Which he has done before too. watch this video.

A Vacation I Still Remember

One of my childhood friends is a veterinarian. He has his own pet clinic in Atlanta. Last year we decided to surprise him and landed on his door unannounced. It still brings a smile on my face to remember his shock on seeing us. He was shocked alright, we hadn't been in touch for the last four years and suddenly I turned up at his house with my family. Anyways, after the initial shock, he was very excited and jumping all over the house with joy. We had already planned about things to do in Atlanta, but he refused to even look at our lists of things that we had planned. He said that it was his city so he will decide how we spend our time here.
We had a wonderful time. My friend knew about my love for history, so we first went to Atlanta History Center which is a very different kind of museum, with forests and gardens in it. We also got to visit Martin Luther King Jr.national historic site, and saw the house where he was born.
My husband isn't much into art and history, so he and my friend headed for CNN center and Fox studio in the car and I hopped on one of the sightseeing tours, which were organized by Trusted Tours & Attractions. Three days in Atlanta were full of fun.
We have planned to go on a trip to Las Vegas together in December. I have drafted a list of things to do in Las Vegas, but I know that my friend and my husband will do things their way. I am tired of Bambi

Prince Bambi is the most adorable animal in this whole world and all the children love him. My daughter adores him too. So much that she has to watch Bambi at least five times a day. Ans this is not all. She insists that I should I also watch it with her.I sit with her with my laptop and pretend to watch the cartoon.When she is engrossed in watching Bambi, I slowly slip away and do my chores. But when my daughter realizes that mamma is gone, she shouts for me to come. I am thinking of deleting this disney classic from her laptop;)

A Game that I can also Play

I am not a big fan of video games. Most of them are full of gore and violence. My brother used to play terminator and other games which I don't remember, but what I do remember is the continuous bang bang of bullets and blasts of bombs.
You could call it a girly trait, but I don't agree. I love action movies. Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis are my favorite stars. But somehow I can't make myself play those action games. May be because the task of saving myself and others is not on some action hero, but on me.

He is again left off the hook. harbhajan Singh has escaped the life ban and let off with a five match ban. I don't understand hhis attitude. He is arrogant and he is always swearing. Such type of attitude has become the in thing in Indian Cricket.But what Bhajji admirers can't see is that we have Sachin Tendulkar too, who made a name for himself through his cricket. This soft spoken cricketer justifies that cricket is truly a gentleman's game. Harbhajan should learn from Sachin.

My husband is thinking of shifting his company. His work permit will expire in July this year and he is planning to continuing to stay here for another two three years. His present company is fantastic, but they may not be able to extend his work permit beyond July. Amitabh has Taken to Ash: A Case of Imitation

Have you noticed how similar Amitabh is sounding like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan now a days? He used to give interviews in a very sober and slow manner. Now he has become more aggressive and accented ( American accent) in his speech. I am watching ( and listening) an interview on CNN-IBN while I am writing this post. He sounds just like Aishwarya. She also has that phony American accent and she also shrugs off uneasy and uncomfortable questions with an aggressive attitude. Amitabh bachachan has certainly learned a few tricks from his Bahu Aishwarya. But is n't it the children who should learn from their parents( or elders) in our culture? Now Amitabh Bachchan will be accused of changing the Indian culture! ha ha ha ha

Any Movie Templates for Blogger?

I have been looking for movie themes all over the internet for quite some time now. Blogskins is the only place where I liked some of the themes, but each time I wanted to upload one of them, I will get a message, your template cant be saved because it is not parsed or the html x y z tag is not closed properly.
There are other movie themes also such as lord of the rings, pirates of the Caribbean, but the pictures form the background and I don't think the words will be visible in such kind of background, so I didn't try them. If any of you can suggest me any move based header or border then I would appreciate it a lot.

1. Questions are difficult, not general. We watched KBC because we knew we could answer some if not all of the questions. If the level is higher than my capablity, I won't try. Why waste time.
2. IPL is running , and slotted at the same time as Paanchvi Pass. There is a lot more drama there as compared to Paanchavi Pass.You get to see stars, favorite players and eye candy cheerleaders all in one program.

It's raining directors in Bollywood. First actor Amir khan turned director with TZP, and now it is Ajay Devgan who has donned the cap of director in U Me Aur Hum. Captain Ajay Devgan has successfully sailed his ship to the shores of Bollywood box office. The movie U Me Aur Hum is an emotional entertainer, with light moments scattered through out. U Me Aur Hum underlines the need for understanding and commitment to make a relationship work.

The romantic journey starts and ends on a cruise, where the psychiatrist Ajay ( Ajay Devgan) meets Piya ( Kajol), the stewardess. He leaves a bad impression on her and she leaves him smitten with her beauty and brains. Ajay decides to persuade Piya of his eternal love, after some resistance, Piya relents. They get married and when the initial aura of honeymoon and romance, subsides the realities of the day strike with full force. Both Ajay and Piya are caught in a web of lies and deceit. It seems that their relationship will be torn apart but as they say, true love triumphs in the end.

The movie is a bit long, but diehard Kajol fans won't miss this film at any cost. Kajol is as refreshing as ever and Ajay sails through the movie with his natural acting.

Dhoop Kinare: Best Pakistani TV Drama Ever

How many times have you watched Dhoop kinare? My score is forty five. This is one romance that you can never forget.I have watched this Pakistani classic drama 45 times and still watch it. Dhoop Kinarey was and will always be my favorite serial on PTV. In early 90s, the Indian market was flooded with video cassettes of top class Pakistani serials. Indian Tv serial was in its nascent stage and didn't have much to offer after Hum Log. We  watched Pak tele serials once every six months. It used to be a huge occasion.  Papa would bring Namkeen and cold drinks while returning from hospital( he is a surgeon) and he would invite all his friends to watch. It was like preparing  for a picnic.Dhoop Kinarey was always on  top list of us kids and our  parents would argue that we should watch new serials, but we would convince them to watch Dhoop Kinarey just one more time.
After my marriage, I made my husband to watch Doohp Kinarey with me. He is a Govinda fan, so he was very reluctant to watch something that will make him think but he also enjoyed every bit of it. Dhoop Kinare can be watched on youtube, I am providing a link here for those of you who want to again relish the innocent masti baazi of Zoya and Anji, and the emotional tribulations of a very Sensitive Dr. Ahmer. Amitabh Bachchan Responds to Ramadoss, and the Fight Continues

It seems that neither of the factions involved, are interesting in keeping their swords in sheath. Health minister Ramadoss started a controversy in February that Shahrukh and Amitabh Bachchan should learn a lesson from Aamir khan on how to use creative liberty for good cause. He was referring to the smoking scenes in the movies and his ministry's decision to ban such scenes. Shahrukh later defended it saying that smoking on screen is a part of creative liberty. Ramadoss was not a step behind, in retorting.
Now it is Amitabh Bachchan's turn to defend the film industry. Amitabh has said that the health minister should first check his knowledge about arts and films and then try to intervene. The government should do what it preaches. There are no punishments for those who make these products, only filmwallahs are made scapegoats, because they are the soft targets. Amitabh Bachchan said

Tashan: Movie Review

Movie Tashan starrs Anil Kapoor,Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Akshay Kumar. It is a story about a Don ( Anil Kapoor) and his fetish to speak English. To improves his English pronunciation, he ropes in Jimmy, who is a call center executive. Jimmy is reluctant and afraid to be in the close vicinity of a don, but Pooja( Kareena Kapoor) persuades him to do the job.Akshay has an interesting role, which I am not going to disclose. Tashan is a movie to enjoy with friends.Anil Kapoor played a don in Welcome too.
Kareena's dance steps and even her dress all look like Aishwarya Rai's copy in Dhoom. No wonder. Both movies are from yashraj camp, so a similarity between costumes and dance sequence is understandable. Remember how Yash Chopra used to drape the heroins in all his movies in Shiffon saris before the advent of mini skirts?
Kareena i looking stunning and hot. Her hot bod will give goose bumps to many aspiring actresses. I think her split with Shahid has agreed on her physique.

Shame on you guys. Now Arbaaz is blah blaing something about family values and honor of his wife. Was he drunk or had his brain operated, when he agreed to be a part of this publicity gimmick? Now when all the bad publicity has made him look in a bad light, that he has come clean. Apparently he is not as thick skinned as his brother Salman Khan, who has a way to court controversies and remain unaffected.

Anil Kapoor: The New Evergreen Hero of Bollywood

There is always so much speculation and anticipation whenever a Rani Mukherji or Aishwarya Rai movie is about to be released. Every channel and paper would describe the sucess or faliure of thei movies vis a vis their ranking in the bollywood hierarchy. But there seems to be no such demarcation for our heroes, and they couldn't care less ( after all, even a C grade hero is better paid than an A grade heroin. Cinema IS a reflection of society, isn't it?)

When watching Welcome, I was wondering about the simple perseverance of Anil kapoor. He was at no.1 position in his prime and still command plum roles. His daughter has reportedly said that he will be chasing teenage girls ( in movies) even after she gets old.

It is interesting that most of the popular heroes are in their 40's. Akshay kumar redisovered himself in comedy movies after getting stamped as action hero.It is said that he is again turing to action. Good for him, he was becoming too casual in his approach towards comedy.
Anyways back to the topic at hand. Anil Kapoor plays a suave detective in the movie Race, with dumb secretary in tow. I was reminded of Karamchand, while watching Anil Kapoor uncover the mystery. I hear that he has performed with his usual aplomb in Tashan also.

Malaika and Arbaaz to Divorce?

This is the news that had me come out of my slumber. Malaika Arora khan and Arbaz are to get divorce? Now that's The News of the Day. This is one couple after Shahrukh Khan and Gauri Khan, which I thought would be ever committed and devoted to each other. Malaika always seemed to be such a mature and cool headed lass, totally opposite of her younger sister Amrita Arora.
I wonder how they have come to such a step, though both are keeping silence on the matter of divorce and both are not ready to discuss anything in public. It seems that brother Salman Khan's bachelor days had have an effect on Arbaaz or is it something to do with Arbaaz not getting any movie assignments and Malaika gaining popularity as an item girl and after judging the popular TV show Nach Baliye? If that's the case then Malaika Arora is better off on her own. A man should know how to handle his own failure and his wife's success. This is not medieval age, where you could restrict a woman to the four walls of home and pretend to be the only one with a brain.

The Godfather: Ultimate Gangster Movie

· With The Godfather Trilogy, Francis Ford Coppola reinvented the gangster film for modern audiences. Coppola recast the mafia film as a Gone with the wind family saga, the complexities of underworld life now effectively dramatized. Men who, in their solemn offices, coldly give orders to kill are the same men who attend marriages and baptisms.
The mafia as a dual personality became the subject of this Best Picture Oscar winner and of the mob movies to follow. Amazingly, Coppola managed to outdo himself with his sequel. Considerably darker than the original, Godfather 11 allowed Coppola to distance himself from the first film’s romanticized view of Michael Corleone ( Al Pacino). His boyish charm gone, Corleone emerged as a man able to maintain his power only by cutting himself off from all the love and emotion.

· In the final scene, Michael Coeleone sits on his private island; his wife long since deserted him, his brother Fredo dead at his own command. As he stares glumly into the camera, Michael bears no resemblance to the heroes of classic gangster movies.

· Since the Godafather saga is based on a sense of continuity, Coppola necessarily introduced a young character who related to Michel much as Michael, in his youth, related to Don Vito (Marlon Brando). This is Vincent Mancini (Andy Garcia), illegitimate son of Michael’s long deceased brother Sonny (James Caan). Vincent insinuates himself into the family and the family business, eliminating enemies like Joey Zasa ( Joe Montegna) while seducing Michael’s daughter ( Sofia Coppola). Garcia, just then making headway toward becoming a superstar for the nineties, was all anyone could have hoped for as Vincent Mancini. On the other hand Sofia Coppola proved to be the key casting flaw. Winona Ryder had been signed to play the role of Mary, but when she dropped out of the project, Coppola was desperate to move on at once, casting his daughter.

· Also notably absent was Robert Duvall, who had played the family lawyer and adopted son, Tom Hagen. When he held out for an impossible fee, Duvall was at last replaced with George Hamilton, who gave a competent performance, but couldn’t fill the shoes of Duvall.

· Like so many other mob movies , GodfatherIII, takes sacred-cow institutions and make them appear no better than organized crime. Other films did this to government, the banking industry, and the big business, but GodfatherIII went further, insisting that the Catholic Church is knee-deep in dirt. Not only does Michael Corleone easily buy himself a place of honor by donating laundered money; Machiavellian characters are here seen plotting, counterplotting, even sanctifying murder in the pursuit of their self interests.

Kilmer has has put on weight and definitely rethink before taking up action movies.The pace of movie is pathetically slow.

All the action, whatever that is, is in the end. The end is not satisfactory. How can you buy that an ex marine soldier simply puts a knife in villain's( whom the whole town dreads and fears) back, after 5 minutes of a badly shot shooting sequence. The characters are not convincing either.They are not developed properly.McPherson's friend Miguel has no remarkable quality for which he should hold a special place in McPherson's heart. But he goes to help him out. We get to see Miguel only in flash backs.The bad guy Rhodes, the female lead Joanna, or the deputy sheriff, all have half baked roles to play.The movie conspiracy is definitely a conspiracy against the audience.

Jodha Akbar: SubhanAllah!

What an opulent drama! Jodha Akbar is total paisa vassol movie.I was a little apprehensive before going to watch the movie, as my husband has told me that it is three and a half hour long.But once Hritik Roshan came on screen,I was absolutely glued to the screen.Jodha Akbar belongs to Hritik. It's his movie all the way.The scene, where Aishwarya( Jodha) secretly watches him practice with his sword, had crooning,whistling and yelling from all the girls in the crowd( including myself).Hritik has already proved his acting credentials in earlier movies, but he is fabulous in the role of Akbar.
If we compare Shahrukh Khan's Asoka and JA(Jodha Akbar),Hritik is far ahead of SRK. In Asoka Shahrukh's mannerism and personality hindered him in essaying the role of a king.Where as Hritik Rohan's steady and calm attitude blended with the role of Emperor Jalaluddin Mohammed Akbar.
Aishwarya Rai looks just as she should be,a beautiful princess.Her controlled and measured performance matches with Hritik's.
The scenes which I likes the most In Jodha Akbar: 1.Bare bodied Hritik flaunting his prowess with sword, Undoubtedly, Gets my vote.
2. The Kazi is saying, that the Hindu Princess should not be allowed to flout Islamic traditions,at exact moment,the music of Bhajan flows into Akbar's court.
3.When Ash is asked to taste the food herself by Ila before she’s about to serve the food to the Emperor and his associates. Once done, Hrithik demanding that he be served the meal from the same platter that Jodhaa had used.
4.The dual scene between Akbar and Jodha.Aishwarya sure learned fencing well.
5.The song Marhaba.It has the opulence and grace.

The minus point of Jodha Akbar: The moment, when Jodha pronounces her love for Akbar should have been more romantic.....something was missing.Director Ashutosh Gowarikar must have wanted this scene to excel.That's why the theme of sunlight reflecting in mirrior was taken, but it could have been more splendid.
This is one movie that I have liked after a long time(apart from TZP
Lets hope that the movie is not affected by the controversy surrounding it.

Jodha Akbar: SubhanAllah!

What an opulent drama! Jodha Akbar is total paisa vassol movie.I was a little apprehensive before going to watch the movie, as my husband has told me that it is three and a half hour long.But once Hritik Roshan came on screen,I was absolutely glued to the screen.Jodha Akbar belongs to Hritik. It's his movie all the way.The scene, where Aishwarya( Jodha) secretly watches him practice with his sword, had crooning,whistling and yelling from all the girls in the crowd( including myself).Hritik has already proved his acting credentials in earlier movies, but he is fabulous in the role of Akbar.
If we compare Shahrukh Khan's Asoka and JA(Jodha Akbar),Hritik is far ahead of SRK. In Asoka Shahrukh's mannerism and personality hindered him in essaying the role of a king.Where as Hritik Rohan's steady and calm attitude blended with the role of Emperor Jalaluddin Mohammed Akbar.
Aishwarya Rai looks just as she should be,a beautiful princess.Her controlled and measured performance matches with Hritik's.
The scenes which I likes the most In Jodha Akbar: 1.Bare bodied Hritik flaunting his prowess with sword, Undoubtedly, Gets my vote.
2. The Kazi is saying, that the Hindu Princess should not be allowed to flout Islamic traditions,at exact moment,the music of Bhajan flows into Akbar's court.
3.When Ash is asked to taste the food herself by Ila before she’s about to serve the food to the Emperor and his associates. Once done, Hrithik demanding that he be served the meal from the same platter that Jodhaa had used.
4.The dual scene between Akbar and Jodha.Aishwarya sure learned fencing well.
5.The song Marhaba.It has the opulence and grace.

The minus point of Jodha Akbar: The moment, when Jodha pronounces her love for Akbar should have been more romantic.....something was missing.Director Ashutosh Gowarikar must have wanted this scene to excel.That's why the theme of sunlight reflecting in mirrior was taken, but it could have been more splendid.
This is one movie that I have liked after a long time(apart from TZP

Jodha Akbar Controversy

Now a days it has become ritual for movies to be surrounded by controversies. Latest in the controversy bandwagon is Jodha Akbar. Thhis film has been shrouded in a cloud of mystery from the day of its announcement. But there has been no dirth of 'rumours' doing rounds. Like the one which said that hero Hrithik Rohan and heroin aishwariya rai can't stand each other. Then there was one relating to the drab music of the movie.Both these so called rumours have been proved false.
Now comes the latest controversy related with Jodha Akbar.The magnum opus of director Ashutosh Gowarikar has run in to hot waters in Rajasthan.Film exhibitors are hesitant to book the movie due to the Rajput community’s ongoing tirade against it in Rajasthan. The movie is based on the relationship of mughal Emperor Akbar and his rajput queen Jodha bai. Some rajput organisations claim that Jodha bai was Akbar's daughter-in-law, and not his wife.They have cited books to prove their point. In other words, Jodha Bai was the wife of Jehangir, aka Salim.The Rajput community of Rajasthan has threatened to not only boycott Jodha Akbar, but also stall its release in the state.
Right from Rang De Basanti to Mangal Pandey, controversies and bans seem to be affecting almost every movie today. Whether the producers/directors seek them to create publicity or the people create them to have their 15 minutes of fame, the result is an increased public interest in the movie. Jodha Akbar, the film that is being waited for since long, is no exception. It is currently facing its share of controversies too and is in the news for all the wrong reasons.But someone said'Every publicity is good publicity', right!
